Stupid Cycling Laws

It only takes somebody who knows little to nothing about cycling to create awful laws for cyclists. Most recently is the proposed law in the state of Missouri to have cyclists be required to have a 15ft flag on the bike. It's another in a few of what is, in my opinion, stupid cycling laws.

But how many stupid cycling laws are currently in existence? I did a quick search and these are my top stupid cycling laws that have been proposed or in effect. In no particular order.

1. It is against the law to ride a bike in the pool. Yes, it is a law you cannot ride a bike in a swimming pool.

2.  Cyclists are required to use sidewalks when available. This law has its benefits and negatives. The law states that cyclists should use the sidewalk when it available and uncongested. The problem with this is it's open to interpretation by police and to what one officer may see as congested another would see differently.

3. The 3ft law. This law was proposed to reduce the passing distance of motorists from 4ft to 3ft. As if it wasn't bad enough having motorists speed by, having them pass closer is the true cause for concern.
